About this event

Until very recently, Gita Jackson was a staff writer at VICE's Motherboard exploring how technology and pop culture inform each other and our lives. Having a past writing extensively on cultural topics in video games, Gita now brings their knowledge on games to issues within contemporary mass media like film, shows, and music. Join us to hear their lecture interrogating the conventional thinking around the difference between cinema and games and unpacking how relationships to interactivity have changed with the rise of streaming services and interactive design around non-game media. Gita will take us to the in-between, works that trouble both film and games as a way for us to rethink our own perspectives on what it means to make interactive experiences for the 21st century.
